So, I’ve never really decorated for the holidays, with the exception of Christmas. Why? Well, I just never thought enough of it to make time, I suppose. Perhaps I thought of it to be a childish, guilty pleasure, one that didn’t warrant making it to my weekly list of to-do’s, with all of the other important things to do such as grocery shopping, cleaning, cooking, sports practice, a job, a husband, and on and on, it did seem quite childish and selfish to fill your world with such frivolous things as holiday decorating.
And now with my son about to venture off into the world soon, the heaps of laundry and the hubby long gone, I now find myself searching for things to fill my time with…man, it sure is quiet. What to do?
New project! We are going to re-decorate the fireplace mantel every month! And with every new project, you must have….goals!
Project Goals:
- Decorate for the holiday of the month and/or season.
- Must include one beloved photo of my son.
- Incorporate that favorite old pair of my son’s worn out cowboy boots. Why? Because of the memories they remind me of; plus, they look pretty dang cool.
I’m so excited to share this with you, and I hope you can find time to join me in this fun, and if nothing else, enjoy and celebrate everyone’s creativity and memories! You don’t have to have a mantel, just find one place somewhere, like a coffee, sofa, or entry table, dresser, somewhere! The neat thing about this is that you can choose to use my goals from above, change some, or create your own! It’s YOUR project, so there are no rules. Be sure to post your photos on Instagram and tag with #<insertmonth>Mantel and #BluebirdandLemon. I can’t wait to see them!
